About the Role
Working closely with the Software Development Manager, you will plan and develop hosting, monitoring and backup systems to support the operational requirements of the Software Development Team and other teams within ESP. You will use your experience to suggest possible approaches to delivering requirements, including any 3rd party services or technologies to recommend.
While the above forms the core of the day to day role, additional activities may be requested of you, and as a pro-active member of the company you would be expected to assist members of the team in achieving company related goals. A fuller list of day to day tasks can be found in section 3.3 of this document.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationships
You will primarily work with the Software Development Team, but the role will also include working with other teams within ESP and some client facing interactions. You will play a key role in helping to assess needs, suggest appropriate solutions and create detailed specifications to meet requirements.
Systems Architecture
Plan and develop hosting, monitoring and backup systems to support operational requirements, covering a wide range of systems, primarily, Linux (RHEL) based. A common feature will be to develop a unified approach to deployment and automation, using appropriate project management tools for version control and issue tracking.
Documentation and Training
You will develop documentation and help train other ESP staff to use the systems relevant to their roles. Including where to find things, day-to-processes, how to request changes and troubleshooting guides.
Research and Development
In conjunction with the Software Development Manager, participate in research and development and system evaluations to ensure ESP remains at the forefront in the industry, applies the most cost-effective methods and approaches, provides leading-edge hosting services and retains its competitive edge.
General
