What is IT Support?  IT companies are notorious for making everything technical and difficult to understand.  This might seem like a bit of a long-winded way to describe what it is that ESP provides as it’s ‘bread and butter’ – in a blogpost, but I thought it would be an interesting way to describe it and it will hopefully dispel the myth that all IT Companies are the same.  Of course, we have different pages across the site that describe this in less detail, in different formats and even video. This blogpost however is aimed at being a long-hand version, but hopefully it will describe it in ways that you can understand.

What is an onsite server?​

An onsite server is a traditional way to handle a business’ computer network.  It is a physical piece of hardware (kit) that sits on your business premises and provides services to the other computers on the network.  Some examples of the things it ‘serves’ are File-sharing, Network Addressing, Virus Scanning & Print Services amongst other things.  In many cases, you will end up with hardware that’s more powerful than what you require.​

On Wednesday September 27, 2023, news of active exploitation of a zero-day vulnerability ( CVE-2023-4863 )(updated with CVE-2023-5129) in a common component of the webp image format, was announced.

This vulnerability is known to potentially affect a wide range of browsers and popular applications.This includes (but is not limited to)Google ChromeMicrosoft EdgeMicrosoft TeamsAlong with a wide range of others.

How can I change IT Provider?  OK, so if you’re reading this blogpost, it’s quite likely that your IT provider isn’t up to scratch and so you’re trying to find out how easy it is for your business to change IT Support Providers or IT Company (or however else you want to term it!).  The honest answer to this question is that it depends on the IT providers that you are thinking of changing from and to.  That might sound like the process is going to be really difficult, horrible or stressful – it SHOULDN’T be.

Scheduling appointments is a common activity. Salespeople often set up virtual appointments to answer questions about a product. Software companies allow people to schedule live demos. Telehealth therapists allow clients to book video sessions.

Those are just a few examples of some groups that are going to love a new Microsoft Teams feature. Virtual Appointments was recently added to the platform. It adds a new meeting style tailored for engagements with customers.

OK, so if you’re reading this article, you’re obviously thinking about getting a Cyber Insurance policy for your business or organisation.  If that’s the case, then you need to really think about what might be required in order to get the policy at all.  Cyber Insurance, in our opinion, is a must have for all businesses or organisations of every size.  However, the Cyber Insurance market has been stung over recent years, losing billions of £’s in the process.  This is, in part, due to the fact that they provided policies to businesses that we’re anywhere near properly protected, so they had lots of claims on their hands, which had to be paid out, because the insurers hadn’t necessarily been collecting the right information from their customers during the application process.  This has now led to higher prices AND more stringent policies and checks are in place during the application process.

Back in 2018, the Senior Leadership Team ESP decided that we needed to be ahead of the other IT Companies in Sheffield in terms of IT Security.  We set out a plan, to get ourselves accredited with ISO 27001, which really demonstrates a high-degree of commitment to IT Security and Data.
